Managing people as a craft of small, repeated acts done well: expectations set in five parts, the one-to-one held even in a busy week, delegation as a defined transfer, feedback given while it can still help, records written the same day, and the through-the-year disciplines of goals, reviews, hiring, and acting on drift while it is still small — every routine taught as a practice you can run on an ordinary Tuesday, with an honest line on where management practice ends and employment law begins.
